Areas affected: Chelan, WA

Flood Watch issued March 15 at 8:03PM PDT until March 22 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Spokane WA

Light to periodically moderate rain is expected for the lower Stehekin Valley this week along with melting snow as temperatures warm into the 40s and 50s. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical levels.

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is possible for the lower Stehekin Valley.

  • WHERE…A portion of North Central Washington, including the following county, Chelan.

  • WHEN…From Monday evening through Sunday evening.

  • IMPACTS…When the Stehekin River gauge hits 19.3 feet, water breaches the river bank. At 20 feet, water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge.   • WHERE…Chehalis River at Porter.

  • WHEN…Until tomorrow evening.

  • IMPACTS…At 48.0 feet, the Chehalis River in Grays Harbor will flood low pasture lands and some roads. High tidal levels at Aberdeen will worsen flooding along the lower reaches.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…

  • At 6:45 PM PDT Sunday the stage was 48.5 feet.
  • Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
  • Recent Activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 6:45 PM PDT Sunday was 48.5 feet.
  • Forecast…The river is cresting this evening with river levels expected to gradually recede tonight. Waters are expected to fall below…

  • At 3:45 PM PDT Friday the stage was 46.3 feet.
  • Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
  • Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 48.5 feet late Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Monday morning.
